Aaron Nacey is from Garden Grove, California. He is a first-year graduate student working toward his master’s in nutrition sciences.

Nacey is a graduate research assistant for the Functional Foods and Human Health Lab. He is developing his thesis which will evaluate the associations of microalgae supplementation on stress and cardio-vascular function. He is currently working towards becoming a registered dietitian nutritionist with the goal of starting his own practice and would like to stay in clinical research to some capacity. Nacey has an extensive background in the Air Force and Colorado Air National Guard and has an interest in working with military veterans and active military members, either through private practice, contracting, or through Veterans Affairs.

I have really enjoyed shadowing the RDNs as they counsel patients experiencing eating disorders,” said Nacey. Seeing these conversations play out has so much to do with why I changed career paths to nutrition within the healthcare domain. It’s humbling to hear what some patients experience on a day-to-day basis, but it’s comforting to see them seeking out and receiving the help that they need. These counseling sessions have furthered my desire to learn more about human behavior and to be a more effective communicator and counselor.”
