KRNC Student Spotlight: Savannah Hobbs

The Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center wants to highlight Savannah Hobbs! She is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate studying Food Science and Human Nutrition. Hobbs is originally from Anchorage, Alaska and grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska.

She is currently working with the Health Behaviors Lab on their HEROs project, a program that provides healthy eating, physical activity, and mindful eating strategies for mothers of preschool-aged children. Her dissertation work focuses on the effects of stress on healthy eating and physical activity. On top of this, she also looks at the role of a stress-management component in obesity prevention interventions.

Hobbs is hoping to become a professor and work with groups facing extreme stress. Her plans also include becoming a registered dietitian to further develop skills related to health and wellness so she can train future registered dietitians.

Savannah’s favorite part about working at the KRNC is the ability to engage with so many people. Whether it be counseling sessions, cooking classes, or health fairs, she loves interacting with people and talking about nutrition and other health-related topics.
