KRNC Student Spotlight: Mackenzie Burgess

Mackenzie Burgess was born in Lincoln, Nebraska but Colorado has been her home for over 18 years. She is currently an undergraduate student at Colorado State University studying Food Science and Human Nutrition, graduating in December 2018. She is also the Marketing and Media Specialist for the Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center as well as a practicum student this semester.

In the spring, she plans on applying for dietetic internships with the ultimate goal of becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). From there, she hopes to work in the realm of community nutrition promoting clear, engaging nutrition messages through creative outlets such as social media, blogging, graphic design, food photography and video production. Mackenzie states, “Working for the Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center as both the marketing specialist and a practicum student has given me countless unique and invaluable experiences throughout my college career. From helping with hands-on cooking classes, to designing graphic materials, to promoting events and the center through various visual platforms, to learning more about effective nutrition counseling by shadowing our incredible dietitians–I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time with the KRNC.”
