College welcomes students to the CSU Ramily

For the more than 900 students starting their college experience with the College of Health and Human Sciences last Friday, Ram Welcome was the first step in launching their promising college careers.

The College of Health and Human Sciences Class of 2022 is an impressive group of 630 incoming freshman and nearly 300 transfer students from diverse backgrounds. However, they have something in common: all of the majors in CSU’s largest college come together to improve the lives of people and the communities in which they live.

A buzz filled Moby Arena as students arrived excited to learn more about the college and their majors while getting oriented for the first day of classes.

Dean Jeff McCubbin greeted students by taking selfies with them and delivering a warm welcome message. Audrey Shillington, director of the School of Social Work and associate dean for academic affairs, assured the freshman that we were looking forward to our time with them as much as they are by saying, “We want to ensure that you have a wonderful experience at CSU.”

To start that experience on the right foot, students broke into their specific departments and schools to get acquainted with faculty, staff and classmates in their majors. Throughout the rest of the day, they were able to explore and learn about CSU’s abundant student services while experiencing the traditions that make CSU a fantastic community of people.

There was no better example of this than the large lunch and Ram Welcome Street Fair where a variety of clubs, organizations, and academic programs were on hand to welcome students and showcase all that CSU has to offer. Many students had their photos taken in the college’s photo booth. The weather was also ideal with lots of Colorado sunshine.

“This college is full of amazing students, and each of us has a tremendous ability to change lives,” said McCubbin, sending off the Class of 2022 to do exactly that.
