Balderrama-Caraveo, a senior in the Department of Health and Exercise Science, and Fling, a sophomore in the Department of Design and Merchandising, had to submit an essay and a video for the contest, which is sponsored by Apartment Guide.

Their videos and essays are posted at www.apartmentguide.com/students/scholarship, where visitors can vote for their favorite candidate among nine finalists. Voting is open during the month of December, and winners will be announced Jan. 9.

CSU is the only college or university that has multiple students in the pool of finalists.
