Social Work Instructor Villescas Zamzow earns place in Faculty Institute for Inclusive Excellence

marie villescas zamzow receiving a diploma upon completing csu's faculty institute for inclusive excellence programOn February 18, School of Social Work instructor Marie Villescas Zamzow, along with twelve fellow Colorado State University faculty members, graduated from the 2019 – 2020 cohort of the Faculty Institute for Inclusive Excellence.

President Joyce McConnell, along with several Vice President for Diversity staff, program facilitators, college Deans and Department Chairs, attended the final project presentations and plaque ceremony.

Villescas Zamzow is the creator of the SOWK 530 Anti-Oppressive Social Work practice course, which includes a focus on multiculturalism and social justice advocacy.

The goal of the Institute is to create a learning environment for faculty to engage in topics of diversity and inclusion in pedagogy, curriculum, and campus communities. Participants in the program explore civility, curriculum, and culture, with regard to diversity and inclusion best practices in the classroom.

The intent is to develop awareness, knowledge, and skill sets that promote equity and social justice in educational settings, in order to transform classrooms and positively influence the university climate.
