The Avenir Museum welcomes Brooklyn Benjamin as new graduate assistant

Head shot of Brooklyn BenjaminThe Avenir Museum and the Department of Design and Merchandising are pleased to announce that Brooklyn Benjamin, master’s student in apparel and merchandising, has joined Colorado State University as the latest member of the Avenir team. She will serve as the graduate assistant, spending her time assisting in the Avenir Museum as well as serving as a graduate teaching assistant under Katie Knowles, curator of the Avenir.

Benjamin grew up in Moravia, Iowa, before moving to Ames for her collegiate studies. She received her B.S. in apparel merchandising from Iowa State in 2019. Throughout her time at Iowa State, she was involved in various clubs and organizations, as well as completing multiple internships. She has previous museum experience from an internship with the Textiles and Clothing Museum on Iowa State’s campus as well as an internship with a traveling Smithsonian Exhibit.

Upon graduation, Benjamin entered the work force as a visual merchandiser for Target. While there, she gained managerial experience as well as strengthened her knowledge around visual presentations and aesthetics. She is eager to put these skills to use through exhibition at the Avenir Museum.

Benjamin is excited to be attending CSU to pursue her M.S. in apparel and merchandising. She chose Colorado State for her studies because of the esteemed program, as well as the natural beauty of the state of Colorado. She is looking forward to the weather getting warmer so she can explore the new scenery. In her free time, Benjamin enjoys all things involving music, art, fashion, food, and history.

Please join the Avenir Museum staff and the Department of Design and Merchandising in welcoming Brooklyn Benjamin to CSU. We are looking forward to the day when we can all interact in the museum once again!

The Department of Design and Merchandising is part of CSU’s College of Health and Human Sciences.
