Happy National Nutrition Month®! This March, we are celebrating Grace McKevitt as our Student Spotlight. She is a fourth-year Food Sciences and Human Nutrition Major in pursuit of being a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist following her graduation this fall. McKevitt is originally from the midwest, born in Minnesota and raised in Illinois. She’s proud of her midwestern roots – especially when it comes to their amazing comfort food.
Her passions lie in maternal, childhood, community and culinary nutrition. Ultimately, she enjoys the experiences she gets when she can work within the community and work with others to help them achieve their health-related goals. She loves nutrition education and focusing on learner-centered teaching because she believes that it’s important to give people the resources and skills to achieve their goals. Her creative side has aided her in developing materials, recipes and workshop ideas. Her dream job is to work in recipe development and food editing for Bon Appetit!
At the KRNC, she is grateful to be getting experience in shadowing the RDNs and appreciates how all the clients are so open about their wellenss journey while they allow her to sit down with them. Her favorite part of the parcticum is the cooking workshops because she can combine her passion for cooking and eating while teaching others how to enjoy these things as well. We are so happy to have you for the semester, Grace!
