Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center presents diabetes related programs
Looking to improve your health and nutrition? CSU employees (faculty and staff) get half-price nutrition consultations with a registered dietitian nutritionist at the Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center. Call to inquire about Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield benefits. KRNC is also offering two dietitian-led group nutrition programs this semester.
National Diabetes Prevention Program
If you have prediabetes or experience challenges with weight management, sign up for our year-long National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) that doubles as an educational class and support group. NDPP features resources for improving nutrition, physical activity, stress management, weight loss and more. Classes meet Tuesdays 5:30-6:30 p.m. starting August 21st in the CSU Health & Medical Center (weekly meetings for first 4 months, then bimonthly to monthly meetings for remaining 8 months). Qualifying Anthem BCBS and UnitedHealthcare members are FREE, and other CSU employees receive a 50% discount thanks to Commitment to Campus.
Diabetes Empowerment Program
If you have diabetes (type 1, type 2 or gestational) or provide care for someone who does, sign up for our 8-week Diabetes Empowerment nutrition-focused cooking program that includes group support, problem solving, hands-on meal preparation (dinner included!), guided physical activity and more. Classes meet Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. from October 3rd – November 14th in the Gifford Building on Lake Street. Class length varies by week (5 cooking classes are 2 hours, all others are 1.5 hours). CSU employees receive a 50% discount thanks to Commitment to Campus.
