Interior Architecture and Design Program nationally recognized for excellence

The release of the 2019 DesignIntelligence Rankings has acknowledged the amazing work done by faculty and staff in the Colorado State University Interior Architecture and Design Program of the Department of Design and Merchandising. DesignIntelligence is the primary organization ranking accredited professional programs in architecture, landscape architecture and interior design and architecture.

Most admired educators

This year, CSU had three faculty members recognized on the list of 2019 Most Admired Educators in Interior Design.  Stephanie Clemons, Ph.D. and University Distinguished Teaching Scholar,  Leah Scolere, Ph.D. and assistant professor, and Robert Work, instructor in the IAD program, were selected for this honor based on their educational efforts and professional practice. The Most Admired Educators are selected with input from thousands of industry professionals, academic department heads, and students across the U.S.

“I strive to empower students to envision their future selves,” said Scolere. “I’ve been lucky to have some wonderful mentors who exude passion and rigor. They’ve set great examples for me to follow.”

DesignIntelligence very rarely selects more than one person from an institution to recognize on their list of Most Admired Educators, and the presence of three faculty members speaks to the culture of excellence at CSU.

Most hired list

The Interior Architecture and Design Program was also featured on the Interior Design most hired from schools list for the second consecutive year. This list ranks undergraduate and graduate programs from the perspective of the industry professionals who hire and work alongside the young professionals produced by these programs.

The Interior Architecture and Design Program’s presence on the list speaks not only to the hirability of CSU graduates, but also to their lasting ability to excel in the professional sphere. The most-hired rankings are based on responses to an online survey sent to design professionals across the U.S.

The Department of Design and Merchandising is a part of CSU’s College of Health and Human Sciences.
