We had a wonderful time at our 2nd annual HES Extravaganza, this past April. The event was developed to bring our HES family closer together and highlight our activities and successes. More than 200 current HES majors, 20 faculty and staff, and several dozen alumni celebrated the occasion. The now-annual event provides an extensive opportunity for students to learn more about the department, make important professional contacts, and strengthen their involvement in the HES family.
All HES majors were invited to the event, and attendees enjoyed great food and beverages, reviewed current research and outreach activities in the department, played outdoor games, and listened to several inspiring speakers. Two lucky winners even went home with brand new bikes! This year’s keynote presenters included Lindsey Roselle, a local businessperson, entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for dreaming big AND doing the work required to achieve those big dreams and Shane Wilson, a graduating senior with a great internship story of saving a life. Students also had the opportunity to network with the speakers and faculty and staff, and EVERY attendee received a t-shirt custom-designed for the event!
