Construction Management scholarships support students

CM RamBuilt hardhatThe Department of Construction Management congratulates this year’s scholarship recipients and gives thanks for the outstanding generosity of our scholarship donors. Normally, the department holds the annual CM Scholarship and Awards banquet each fall but like so many things in 2020, we are finding different ways to celebrate.

This year, the department awarded 55 foundation scholarships totaling more than $107,000. Each scholarship touches a student’s life and provides opportunities that wouldn’t be possible without the generous financial support provided by these scholarships. The department welcomes Gordon (’66) and Joan Marks to the CM scholarship family with a new scholarship they established this year to support a student, who is “showing grit and determination in his or her pursuit of a college degree and career in the construction industry.”

Private scholarships are supported by a wide variety of donors, including alumni, families of former students, industry companies and associations. Additionally, several scholarships are structured as an endowment, in memory of a loved one. Learn more about one of our scholarship recipients, Luis Rojas Sanchez, a first-generation student who is the recipient of the John L. Hachmeister Legacy Scholarship.

While there are many different aspects of the mission at any university, there is no more important mission than that of education. Past and current support from multiple individuals and groups has helped create one of the nation’s eminent construction programs at CSU, which attracts the best and brightest students from Colorado, the Rocky Mountain Region, and the nation. The department takes responsibility for providing a world-class construction program garnering the upmost respect. While we are proud of the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff, we are also setting our sights above the future horizon as we continue to expand the quality of our program.

The faculty, staff, and students express sincerest appreciation for such exceptional philanthropy from our generous donors that are making a meaningful impact on our students. These donors inspire students to one day make their own difference in the world.
