The Department of Construction Management celebrates the achievements and recognition of CM faculty, staff and graduate students.

Department Awards

Congratulations to the recipients of the inaugural CM Department Awards:

Nicole DufallaOutstanding Teaching Award:
Nicole Dufalla, Instructor

The Teaching Award recognizes a faculty member for outstanding success in teaching. Metrics of teaching success include evaluations of teaching performance by faculty and students, curriculum development activities, student mentoring, awards and recognition by peers in the discipline.

Christopher HarperOutstanding Research Award:
Christofer Harper, Assistant Professor

The Research Award recognizes a faculty member for success in the development of a sustained research program.  Metrics of research success include publications of scholarly work, research funding and graduate student support, awards and recognition by peers in the discipline.

Outstanding Service Award:
Erin Arneson, Assistant Professor

The Service Award recognizes a faculty member for outstanding service to the academic and professional community.  Service activities include contributions to the administration of the university (department, college and campus), service to professional societies, review and editorial work for professional journals and conferences, and outreach to the community at large.

The Staff Award recognizes a member of the CM staff for outstanding contributions to the operation of the department. The award winner is selected based on contributions in the previous calendar year.

Outstanding Graduate Student Award:
Deniz Besiktepe, doctorate student from Civil and Environmental Engineering Ph.D. program with a focus in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM)   

The outstanding graduate student award recognizes a graduate student for outstanding success in teaching and/or research.  The award winner is selected based on teaching and/or research performance in the previous calendar year.  Metrics include publications of scholarly works, evaluations of teaching performance by faculty and students, and research and/or teaching awards.

Recognition

Dottie Cartrite, CM Front Office and Communications Coordinator, recognized with the Everyday Hero award.

The Everyday Hero is an ongoing special program sponsored by the CSU Classified Personnel Council to recognize day-to-day achievement of CSU employees. This recognition is open to state classified, administrative professionals, and faculty members.

Nicole Dufalla, instructor, named Chair of the Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Properties of Concrete and Constituent Materials (AKM60).

CM Graduate Students Recognized

Manideep Tummalapudi was awarded the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Construction Institute Outstanding Student Award. The award recognizes those who are engaged in their communities, work to advance the profession, and exemplifies integrity and regard for the industry.

Shantanu Kumar was selected as one of 20 early career scientists as Sustainability Leadership Fellows for the 2021-2022 academic year by the School of Global Environmental Sustainability. The School’s Sustainability Leadership Fellows program, which prepares future innovators and thought leaders with state-of-the-art science communication and career development training, was one of the first of its kind and is one of the longest running programs of this type in North America.

Two graduate students were recognized as part of CSU Demo Day:

Deniz Besiktepe earned a specialty award in Innovation in Programmatic or Educational Outreach for her submission entitled, “Condition Assessment framework for facility management based on Fuzzy Sets theory.”

Manideep Tummalapudi was awarded People’s Choice for his submission entitled,
“Data powered project management for the construction industry”.

Milestones

CM celebrates employees achieving Milestone years of service this past 2020-2021 academic year, and thanks them for their commitment to the department and Colorado State University.
