College of Health and Human Sciences Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony – Dec. 17

The Colorado State University College of Health and Human Sciences will confer undergraduate degrees at a commencement ceremony on Friday, Dec. 17, at 5 p.m., in Moby Arena. The ceremony will be the first traditional, in-person commencement since Fall 2019. Graduate students will be recognized at a separate ceremony on Friday morning; see the Graduate School website for details.

Metal detectors, clear bag policy, and masks

Please note that metal detectors will be at all guest entrances on the upper Moby Arena and also at the student entrance on the southeast side of the Intramural Gym. These will be the only available entrance points to the ceremony.

The Clear Bag Policy will be in effect for all ceremonies at Moby Arena. Please read the Clear Bag Policy as purses and bags, along with many other items, will not be allowed at the ceremony.

In compliance with both Larimer County public health guidance and CSU, masks are required in all indoor spaces whether attendees are vaccinated or not. This applies to all university buildings, including both commencement and commissioning locations, Moby Arena, and the Lory Student Center. All participants of the ceremonies, as well as visitors to campus, must adhere to the guidelines.

There are no tickets required for guests at the Fall 2021 ceremony.

Featured speaker Jon L. Kinning (’94)

Taking the stage to provide the Charge to the Class is CSU alumnus and current chief operating officer and executive vice president of RK Industries, LLC, Jon L. Kinning, a valued member of the College of Health and Human Sciences Executive Leadership Council.

RK Industries, LLC, is a second-generation, Colorado-based construction, manufacturing, and service business with more than 1,300 employees celebrating 58 years in business with operations in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, and New Mexico. In addition to his role at RK, Kinning also serves as Managing Partner for Kinning Holdings, a real estate holding company established in 2000. He is the president of the RK Foundation, founded to support non-profit and public causes within RK’s communities, which has granted more than $2 million since the foundation was established in 2011.

Kinning has a passion for philanthropy and focuses on education, health, and community, demonstrated by his board participation. He serves on the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce Executive Development Committee, the Metropolitan State University of Denver Foundation Board, and the Johnson Depression Center at CU Anschutz. He is a founder and board member of the Green and Gold Foundation benefiting Colorado State University. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from CSU and an MBA from the University of Denver.

Additional details

Associate Dean Jen Aberle will emcee the ceremony. Other event highlights will include the presentation of degree candidates from Dean Lise Youngblade, the conferring of degrees from President Joyce McConnell, and a warm welcome to the Alumni Association from Blanche Hughes, Vice President for Student Affairs, who holds two CSU degrees, including her master’s from the School of Education in the College of Health of Human Sciences. CSU Board of Governors member Jane Robbe Rhodes will also be in attendance.
