College of Health and Human Sciences Fall Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony – Dec. 16

CHHS Undergraduate CommencementThe Colorado State University College of Health and Human Sciences will confer undergraduate degrees at a commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m., in Moby Arena. Carla Dore (’83), president and owner of Workplace Resource of Colorado, will give the Charge to the Class. Member of the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System Kim Jordan will confer the degrees. Jeff McCubbin, dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences, will welcome guests and present the degree candidates. Don Mykles, director of the University Honors Program, will recognize the Honors Program graduates. MAJ Troy P. Thomas, professor of Military Science, U.S. Army ROTC, will announce the newly commissioned officer. Caitlyn Sheehan (’13) will welcome the new graduates to the Alumni Association. Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Audrey Shillington will emcee at the ceremony.

Carla Dore (’83) – Charge to the Class
A 1983 graduate of Colorado State University, Carla Dore holds degrees in both interior design and industrial construction management. Upon graduation from CSU, she acquired considerable experience at major design firms in the Chicago and Metro Denver areas. Now, Dore is the president and owner of Workplace Resource, a Herman Miller Certified Dealer. She began her career with Workplace Resource in 1990 and has held a variety of positions including architecture and design representative, small business specialist and account manager. In the mid-1990s she became vice president of Sales and Marketing and eventually became president in 2002. In 2011 she acquired the organization from Herman Miller Inc., and applied for and received her Women’s Business Enterprise National Council Certification and Woman Owned Small Business Certification. Workplace Resource is recognized as one of Colorado’s largest office furniture dealers, a company firmly entrenched as the premier provider of all things related to workplace design and productivity. Dore is extensively involved in the Colorado community as the co-chairperson of the Executive Committee for the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, past board chairperson for The Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, current Board Trustee for the Metro Denver YMCA, and takes an active role in several other organizations including Denver Kids Inc., CSU’s College of Health and Human Sciences and Project Angel Heart.

Caitlyn Sheehan (’13) – Welcome to the Alumni Association
Caitlyn Sheehan graduated in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies with minors in business administration and gerontology. She served five years as the admissions director for Columbine Health Systems before returning to her alma mater at CSU as the development operations coordinator for the CHHS Dean’s Office. Alongside her love for CSU, she thoroughly enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling. She has stayed in touch after graduation through volunteering with Year 2 at CSU, the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, and serving on the CHHS Emerging Leaders Council. She is honored to be giving the alumni speech today and wishes all the graduates the very best.
