The Avenir Museum and the Department of Design and Merchandising are very happy to announce that Gina Prantil is the latest member of the Avenir team. Prantil is a San Diego native who recently relocated to Colorado from Boston. She received her B.A in international business studies with minors in economics and French from San Diego State University and her Masters in Public Administration with a minor in Economics from Louisiana State University. She is excited to begin a new chapter exploring her passion for apparel design and history.
After college, Prantil went to work for the Louisiana State Legislature before flying off to become an international flight attendant for Delta Airlines. Subsequent to the 9-11 attack on the World Trade Center she entered the financial services industry in Boston, Massachusetts where she worked on a number of regulatory and risk management projects for major financial institutions.
After moving to Fort Collins to try her hand in Big Agriculture, Prantil decided it was time to finally pursue her long-time dream of working in the design field. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Design and Merchandising. Her areas of interest include fashion history, cultural and religious modesty standards and adaptive design
On a personal note, Prantil loves getting outdoors and spending time with her daughter, Esther and their dog, Mabey. She is a lover of circus arts, sewing, BBC crime dramas, and singing Queen songs, somewhat less well than Freddie Mercury. In her free time, you can find her working on remodeling her mid-century ranch home while watching the DIY Channel.
The Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising is in the Department of Design and Merchandising, part of CSU’s College of Health and Human Sciences.
